Decisions, Decisions

I’m thinking that I’m going to be taking visual communication when we choose our area of specialism. At first I was torn between 3D Spatial, Viscom & I the mysterious subject, Media. I was almost certain that I was going to choose Media from my list as I want to peruse animation, thus media would have been the best option. However because of circumstances Media was split between Vis Com and Fine Art.

So now Visual Communication comes in both my first choice and now my second choice. I took 3D Spatial off my list after the subject talk, as the subject seems too neat, which is nowhere near my profile. I enjoy collage, experimenting with materials to make a something other than a 3Dimentional installation.

I did enjoy Fashion Textiles and Fine Art; however I didn’t like the process as much I did with Visual communication. Fashion Textiles and Fine Art have taught me most about observational drawing, using continuous line, drawing with right/left hand and overall just experimenting a range of ways to draw. The two subjects opened my mind to the possibilities, and from this I have started to draw with candle wax as well as perfect my drawing skills. I’m surrounded by Textiles as my mother used to work in a clothing factory, so theres sewing machines and fabric all over my house. However I feel like I want to step into a different path, so I have crossed this off my imaginary list.

Fine art as I said before was a good rotation; however I just didn’t enjoy the process. I’m also not much of a paint or observation drawer and I feel this is a clear skill needed in the subject.
I really enjoyed tying together my style with the range of materials, e.g. fabric, red thread, string, masking tape, etc, and layer ideas. I was nice putting together contrasting materials, like card and string, paint and plastic, it was like I created a new texture.

I really enjoyed these 8 weeks because it really did expose my strengths and weaknesses, as well as help me develop my artistic style, a style which is being longed. I studied ICT and Media in my A Levels and have practiced some animation with Adobe Flash. I created a Game as well as a Music Video successfully. I’m happy that I have studied 3D special design as I can now use that way of thinking to maybe build houses for my future animations.

So to round up, I would like to take Visual Communication into my further study. This being because, one, I have taken A Level graphics thus am used to creating a product for an audience, two, I can practice animation in Visual Communication and third, most of all, because I enjoyed the process and end product of this rotation.

visual communication

Is all about the BRIEF BRIEF BRIEF.
if i stick to the brief i will go far...

Visual communication has a little more strictness about it, a more defined and sturdy approach to the creative world. This was the approach I was looking for.

I enjoyed the whole ideas process, it was a fun activity to do.
My word was Mirror, I got to noodles, Micheal Jackson, Babies and Trucks. what else goes perfectly together?

final outcome

I used the whole idea of someone being hit by a car, however the car isn't shown thus it gives the audience a different effect.

TRE-FLIP

I used this as part of my project, as my 'moving object'.

saachi saachi

Theres been some questioning about the about the first photo as it shouldn't have won a competition or something of the sort.
However I actually liked it *put on bulletproof suit* it might have been more because it linked to my picture with the whole dent in the fence.
I enjoyed the simplicity of it as this makes me wonder what the tale is behind this certain composition.

FINE Art art art art

the cliche-est subject of them all.
I wasnt too sure of fine art at first, because i wasnt a painter, nor did i enjoy drawing in tonal. So i thought this was going to be a bother for me.

I didnt enjoy the first two days as it was all observational drawing, using different materials as we went along.
This dragged quite a bit.

However after the observational drawing we got to do this animation sort of drawing. Drawing the installation as we passed around it. I really enjoyed this, maybe because subconsciously i want to take animation, and this was a part of it.

score slice & twist

I didnt really enjoy this, just because of the simplicity of it.
I also didn't have much of idea of the different shapes i could add so I just did random cuts in the paper and attached it to the ends of the sheet.
I just couldnt get a grasp of the topic and being surrounded by intimidating awesomeness didnt help.

PHOTO MONTAGE!

I actually really enjoyed this. It may have been because it was like a 'do what you want day' rather than a day where we are doing observational drawing/using different methods.
I enjoyed mixing all the different images together, creating a different message.
